What personal data I collect and why I collect them

As a freelance translator, transcreator, and English language consultant, I collect, store and use your personal data only to issue a quote, or provide a translation, transcreation or English language service that you request, or to comply with legal requirements. Personal data collected may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, and VAT or tax number. If I discover or have reason to believe I have received personal data from persons under 18 years of age or who do not have full mental capacity, those data will not be used and will be erased as soon as possible and in any event within one month.
I do not normally collect or retain any sensitive personal data unless you send them to me for the specific purpose of translating them. In these cases we shall agree together beforehand on how and when I will anonymize them in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.

What third parties I receive personal data from

As a freelance translator, transcreator, and English language consultant, I may receive personal data from third parties. In these cases however I act as a Data Processor and not as a Data Controller. It is the Data Controller’s responsibility to make sure that all Data Processors receive personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.

Legal grounds

The legal basis for processing your data is to perform the services you request or to take necessary steps prior to and following fulfilment of your request (“performance of a contract”). This basis also applies if you provide me with a service.

Who I share your personal data with

If I send a text for revision or editing to a colleague, that text will be anonymized, so your personal data will not appear in it.
For administrative purposes, other parties, including my accountant and the providers of my cloud backup, website and email hosting services, may have access to your personal data. All these parties are compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, like me.

What automated decision making and/or profiling I do with personal data

I do not use automated decision making or profiling.

How long I retain your personal data

For quotes, I delete all personal data after six months.
For services rendered, I keep personal data for as long as I am obliged to by the Italian tax or other authorities and, if it is embedded in a translation, for up to ten years to preserve the integrity of my personal translation resources.
For services received, I keep your personal data for as long as I am obliged to by the Italian tax or other authorities.
I delete email communications after five years.

What rights you have over your personal data

You may contact me at any time to request a copy, rectification or erasure of your personal data. I will take action without undue delay and in any event within one month of receipt of the request.
Should you have any concerns about how I process your personal data, please contact me. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in Italy or in the country where you live.

Note about cookies

Cookies are small data files created by a website and stored on your computer or mobile device. This website only uses essential and function-related cookies. It does not use marketing, statistics or third-party cookies. How I protect your personal data

I store and process all of the personal data I hold in strict compliance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679. The personal data I receive from forms on this website are encrypted with SSL technology. Your personal data will be securely stored in my databases and electronic files. I only keep hard copies of invoices and any other documents I need to keep with my tax return according to Italian law. I store personal data in databases hosted within the EU. I use an up-to-date operating system, antivirus program and firewall.
